Faktoje is taking part in the development of the multilingual chatbot, using artificial intelligence to offer users fact-checked information. The European Media and Information Fund (EMIF) selected this project along with seven others in its sixth funding round, focusing on verification.
Faktoje will collaborate with other fact-checking organizations led by Newtral to build an AI-generated multilingual chatbot that provides verified information to users globally.
Designed as a ‘ChatGPT of Facts,’ this virtual assistant aims to combat disinformation by ensuring the accuracy of information available to every user.
In contrast to conventional chatbots that typically offer guided responses and pre-defined options, the Newtral project aims to provide users with a conversational experience akin to having a personal assistant for fact-checking.
Faktoje will participate in developing the project’s data alongside European fact-checking organizations such as Newtral in Spain, Delfi in Lithuania, Lakmusz in Hungary, and Oštro in Slovenia.
The effectiveness of the chatbot lies in its database, which contains verified and cross-referenced information in multiple languages. This information repository is designed to equip users with accurate and trustworthy answers to their inquiries, regardless of linguistic diversity.
The funding allocated for this project marks a significant step forward in the fight against disinformation, strengthening the efforts of the fact-checking community to ensure that the truth prevails in the global media landscape.
