In February 2018, the first fact-checking service, Faktoje, was launched in Albania. This project was supported by USAID and implemented by the Gender Alliance for Development (GADC) in close cooperation with the National Center for Social Studies (NCCS).

Since September 2019, the “Faktoje” center has been operating as an independent media organization, funded by several donors. The editorial work at Faktoje is structured to ensure an efficient and organized process. The editor-in-chief oversees the editorial work and ensures that the content complies with the mission and standards of Faktoje. The editor is responsible for quality control of materials and fact-checking, working closely with journalists to ensure the accuracy of the information. Journalists collect information and conduct investigations, developing detailed reports and in-depth analyses. The managing editor oversees multimedia publications, including managing videos, graphics, and digital content, to ensure they are clear and accessible to the public on online platforms.

 

Klodiana Kapo

Managing Director

Klodiana Kapo joined the “Faktoje” team in the position of Managing Director. She comes in this position after a 3-year long experience as Manager of Public Relations and Communication in the children’s International Organization, World Vision, where she was recently awarded with the “Global Brand Award”. Mrs. Kapo joins “Faktoje” after a 16-year long career in the most prominent media in the country, where she mainly reported social issues, more specifically education and the education system, health, youth development, etc. In her career, Mrs. Kapo worked as a journalist for Top Channel (where she produced dozens of documentaries and personal stories). She had her own weekly column in the newspaper “Shqip” and worked as an Editor in Chief for the Albanian Public Broadcaster. Klodiana counts a series of successful awareness campaigns for non governmental organizations, local and international, and is also co-author in two books.

Aimona Vogli

Editorial Manager

Aimona Vogli has been working as an Editorial Manager for Faktoje.al since June 2021. She joined the Faktoje team after 13 years of experience in the media sector: Television, press and digital, and also after 3 years of experience in the areas of communications and PR for the civil society. Aimona started her career in 2005 as a journalist at Gazeta Shqiptare where she also covered social issues in her articles. From 2010, she was part of the national television TV Klan, where she worked as a journalist for several TV programs and then as chief editor for the evening programme “Rudina”, with Rudian Magjistari. For two consecutive editions (2015 and 2016), Aimona was journalist for press relationship for the International Opera Festival “Marie Kraja”.

Silvana Gjermeni

Finance & Administration Manager

Silvana Gjermeni is part of “Faktoje” since 2019. She graduated from the Faculty of Economics, Finance and Accounting Department, University of Tirana, and holds a postgraduate master’s degree in the same field. She has over 10 years of experience in civil society, specifically in procurement, administration, and finance departments, as well as 5 years of experience in the banking system

 

Nevila Gjata

Editor in Chief

Nevila (Perndoj) Gjata joined the Faktoje.al staff as editor-in-chief in this media. She comes to this position after 24 years of experience as a journalist in the written media: “Koha Jonë”, “Shekulli”, “Mapo”, then online GazetaSi.al (in some of them also as political editor) as well as an external collaborator for the “Mapo” Magazine. For the last two years she has been an external collaborator of Faktoje.al. She has also collaborated in the past with the GIZ Tirana Office “Migration for Development Program”. She has covered political developments in the country in this quarter of a century, has conducted interviews with key figures and their profiles, and has prepared analyses of political developments in the country, the region and the world.

Esmeralda Topi

Editor

Esmeralda Topi is a senior journalist and editor. She joined Faktoje centre in 2022. Esmeralda has been working as an economic journalist since 2010, in television, print, and online media outlets. She graduated from the University of Tirana with a degree in Journalism. Additionally, she completed her Master of Science studies in Public Relations at the same faculty.

 

Barbara Halla

Researcher/Journalist

Barbara Halla is a researcher and writer focusing on disinformation in Albania and the Western Balkans. Prior to joining Faktoje, she served as Managing Editor for the English page of Exit News. Her writing has appeared on EuractivRespublicaEurope Now, and World Literature Today. Since 2017, she has also been part of the editorial board of Asymptote, an international literary journal focusing on literature in English translation, where she currently serves as its Criticism Editor. Barbara has also collaborated with Cultural Heritage Without Borders to establish a memorial house for Musine Kokalari, and has written about the cultural roots of sexual violence in Albania for Politikja, an academic journal. She has a degree in History from Harvard and has lived and worked in Tirana, Cambridge, and Paris.

 

Patris Pustina

Journalist

Patris Pustina has worked as a staff writer for Exit News’ English site. She co-produced “Me Pak Fjalë” on Euronews Albania, and also worked as a data journalist at the same TV station. She holds a History degree from Brown University.

 

Jona Plumbi

Journalist

Jona Plumbi is a journalist with 9 years of experience in visual and written media. Graduated in political science at the bachelor’s level, she completed a master of science on Regional Politics of Southeast Europe at the University of Tirana, where she was also part of the network of excellent students (NES). During her career, Jona has worked in various fields of public communication, as a field reporter on current political issues for “ABC News”, news editor for “Euronews Albania” as well as a communication expert for senior officials such as the President of the American Chamber of Commerce.

Sebi Alla

Journalist

Sebi Alla is a journalist with extensive experience in the Albanian print media. Since 2000, he has been involved in the print media, covering various sectors such as current affairs, health and the environment. Alla has worked as an editor and editor-in-chief in several media outlets in Albania and has been a dedicated investigative journalist for years and has written a series of research articles.

Atdhe Mulla

Social Media Manager

Atdhe Mulla is a photographer his work focuses on ever changing landscape of Kosovo after the 1999 war in Kosovo. His work was a part of collective exhibitions in Prague, Bratislava and Prishtina, as well was published in numerous magazines and art publications such as “Ojo de Pez” Documentary Photography magazine based in Madrid and “Revolver Revue” a quarterly printed magazine which focuses on contemporary artists working in Czech Republic. He is a graduate of still photography department at Film and Tv School of the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague.

Grace Kozeli

Multimedia

Grace Kozeli is a multidimensional artist, engaged in the field of multimedia, where passion for art meets professional experience. With a deep education in Art & Design from Polis University and an artistic journey that begins with the violin at the “Jordan Misja” Artistic High School, she has created a unique profile that combines aesthetic sensitivity with visual mastery. Over the years, she has been part of important television and artistic projects, collaborating with Don Production, Klan TV, the Municipality of Tirana, etc. With a contemporary approach and dedication to visual art, Grace brings a clear and original vision to every creative process, working with professionalism in all phases of multimedia production.
